OUR HISTORY

THE ITALO BRITANNICA ASSOCIATION is a non-profit association founded in Genoa on 12th July, 1946 with the aim of promoting friendly relations between Italy and English speaking countries. These objectives are achieved through the study of English and Italian and the organization of conferences, lectures, concerts, shows, art exhibitions, and other social and cultural opportunities.

OUR STRUCTURE

THE ASSOCIATION IS SITUATED in the centre of Genoa, in PIAZZA DELLA VITTORIA 14/22 on the 5th floor. Facilities include 6 classrooms, a reading room and the only British Library in Liguria, which contains over 11,000 ENGLISH books. Internet access is available in the library for members.

THE MAIN CHARACTERISTIC of the Association has always been its commitment to offering its members the highest quality and variety of opportunities to acquire and develop an in-depth knowledge of English language and culture.

OUR TEACHERS

Our teachers are all mother-tongue English speakers, highly qualified and specialized in teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL or equivalent). The principal aim of the courses they teach is to prepare students in order to communicate clearly and appropriately in real life situations.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE SPECIALISTS

Our courses are designed to prepare students in effective, correct and appropriate communications for real life situations.

We use a communicative approach, and our teachers adopt a personalized method to satisfy the needs of each group or individual student.

OUR LIBRARY grew out of an arm of the “Union Club Genoa”. There are over 11,000 volumes on its shelves. Included are an assortment of entertaining contemporary novels, and many highly specific subject areas that the curious and exacting reader can explore: classic works, literary criticism, poetry, biographies, history and historical novels, religion, philosophy and much more.
